Ava's Halloween Party at School

Ava had a great time with her class. Ava's class has 8 girls and 1 boy! 2 girls were absent today! Ava is so lucky, the girls are so quiet and sweet. Poor Vaughin!

While the Boys Are Away, The Girls Will Play!

On Sunday, the boys went to The Wings Over Houston to watch the airshow (see pictures below). Well, Ava and I decided to go to lunch at Applebees and then do some shopping. We went to the mall and Ava saw Build-A-Bear and wanted to go in. I said sure. Then she asked if swim lessons were done yet! Well, I had promised her a trip to Build-A-Bear after a successful run of swim lessons. We were done in May and then again in August, so I guess she just remembered and wanted her payback! Ava had a blast. She can't wait to go back and get some clothes for Pinky! She even said Pinky needs a shirt to cover her boobies. Guess what Ava wants to do for her birthday with her friends!!!

Visits 3, 4 and 5 to the ER!

Yes, we spent some more time in the ER this past week. I think we probably paid the doctor's salary this month!!!

Last Friday, Jeff slipped on the stairs and hurt his knee. Saturday morning it was bad enough that we decided to go to the ER just to get it checked out. The doctor said Jeff probably strained his outer meniscus. Well, that's bad news because he already tore the ACL and the meniscus on that knee in college. He was sent home with a brace and crutches.

On Wednesday, we took another drive to the local ER to get Ava's stitches out, not a big deal. She did have to be wrapped like a burrito again! The scar looks pretty good.

That brings us to Saturday morning. Jeff was up early to get some yard work done before the 12:30 Soccer Game. At 8am, he complained of some lower back pain. By 8:15 he was rolling around on the floor in severe pain. By 8:20 he was vomiting. I had a feeling it was kidney stones. I called my mom and she agreed with me. I told him to hold on until 10:00, that's when our local ER opens. By 9:00am I thought he was ready to die. We got to the ER and the doctor said he couldn't believe Jeff went 2 hours with this pain. They hooked him up to an IV and got the drugs to relax him going. They took a CT scan but could not find any stones. They said the stone or stones were ready to come out so just urinate! Well, I guess that's easier said then done. We couldn't leave until he did. About 1:15 he went! We were able to go! Our first stop was the pharmacy to get some more pain relief! Jeff got home and relaxed! Today he is feeling much better and took Tyler to an Air Show in Houston. So far so good!

Thank God for great neighbors and friends. Our neighbor, Alisha took Ava and Tyler's Soccer Coach, Tim and his wife, Carey came and picked Tyler up at the ER for his soccer game. Thank you guys so much!!!

Visit #2 to the ER!

Yep, that's Ava with a new set of stitches! She was playing with Tyler and tried to crawl under our new sofa table and hit her head! She got 4 stitches through her eyebrow. Her daddy was incredible again! He stayed calm and held her while the doctor sewed her up. Thanks Daddy! As you can see she is doing pretty well!

Tree in the Attic
Game Room Upstairs

We also have water damage in the living room, downstairs bathroom, and garage!

Take a Hike Ike!

Here are some pictures before Ike came to visit
After Ike's arrival:

Our Directv dish is under that tree!

We made it! Our power is on (great since they said it could take up to 4 weeks to get power) and we have gas in the car! I never thought it would be so hard to find gas, ice, cell phone service and a banana! Besides not being able to do a load of laundry! The stores can only sell canned goods so I can't wait to refill the fridge again. The kids are sick of soup, fruit snacks and granola bars! It was priceless to see the kids faces when they flipped the switch and the lights went on! It was like Christmas!

It has been a rough couple of days but we are so lucky everyone is alive and well! We actually survived without TV for 4 days! Still, we only can watch movies but it is better than nothing. The lovely tree that decided to hit our house also destroyed the dish! I'm not sure when Directv will make it here to fix it. Also, thank you God for giving us some cool weather!

The storm was pretty scary! I have never heard wind like that and didn't think trees could bend so much. Throughout the night I could hear what sounded like stones hitting the windows. I hear it was probably pine cones being thrown around like darts. The sky was green most the night due to all the transformers blowing up. We lost power about 6am on Saturday right after the tree hit our house. It was a horrible noise and we knew it wasn't good. Thank God the kids slept through it all!
